Cat Got Yer Tongue

Chapter 1

Moriarty sat in the chair in his library, wearing a silk, black dressing gown. He was reading The Complete Tales and Poems of Edgar Allen Poe. Shade walked over and rubbed against his legs.

"Master, are you feeling better?"

"Yes, Shade, thanks," Jim said.

Shade then jumped up on the side of his master's chair and read over the story with him. Jim then scratched behind his ears.

"Master also has a good taste for classic books."

"Very much," said Jim, turning his attention back to the story. "Well, if you killed him, you idiot, you should have known your conscious would come back to haunt you," said Jim, referring to The Tell-Tale Heart.

Shade climbed back off Moriarty's chair. "Master seems really depressed. Do you want to talk about it?"

"No thanks, Shade, all I want to do now is sit and read." But, Shade wouldn't leave it alone. He put his paw on Jim's head. "Oh, you want to get in the way of everything, just like Sherlock Holmes," Jim said.

"Yes, I saw it. He is all over the news," said Shade.

"I'm aware of that. Why do you think the TV is off? I've gone a week without reading a newspaper. He's everywhere, I'm telling you, Shade. I can't escape the guy." Moriarty then plopped back down in his chair and found a dead mouse in it. "Shade, are you responsible for this?" asked Jim.

"Yes, Master, I thought you might like it as a present."

"And why would I like a dead mouse for a present?" said Jim.

"Because, I have some news about Mr. Holmes to share with you."

"Alright, then tell me if you want to share my bed tonight," said Jim.

"Alright – Sherlock and his dog had another fight..."

"Well...don't stop, Shade, tell me more."

"...and he is staying with his new girlfriend tonight."

"Well, well, Sherlock is along tonight and if he had a fight, then he will need a shoulder to cry on. Shade, tell me again why I listen to you?"

"Because I listen to you, Master," Shade replied. Moriarty pet Shade again.

"Well, I'm going to get dressed and pay Sherly a visit. Then I will bring him back here and have some fun with him."

"Oh please Master, can I come with you?"

"No, you stay here," said Jim.
