A big huge apology to my fans for not finishing my Zutara; Prisoner of War. My writer's block sucks, but I'll be finishing it and putting it up in a few days. In the meantime, here's a little of my fan-cination with Kateikyoushi Hitman Reborn. Enjoy!

DISCLAIMER: I do not own any part of Reborn nor do I really hope to. I would probably ruin the plot anyway :) Imagine the havoc I would cause! I guess fan fiction will just have to do...

Haru woke up feeling a draft. She didn't remember leaving the window open. Perhaps it was just her imagination? She smiled to herself at her forgetfulness, shrugged and went to shut it. It was pretty cold out and she didn't want to get sick.

She reached for the window to close it and saw a single rose sitting on the window sill.

"Now, how did this get here?" she wondered aloud. She looked outside for signs of life or of her secret admirer (who else would put a rose on her window sill so late at night?) but all was quiet. How strange. She sighed to herself and shut the window taking the rose into her room with her. She could figure it out in the morning.

Outside, a darkened figure jumped out of the tree outside Haru's room and landed lithely and quietly on the ground. It had been worth the trouble to see her again. It had been worth the effort to see her smile. He would have to remember not to make this a habit.

Smiling to himself, Hibari hitched his coat against the wind and left the compound. She wasn't the kind of girl he particularly liked, not that he'd come across any that sparked his interest, but there was something about this one that made him feel... less dead inside.

And all she had done was smile at him once. It was strange, feeling this way, but he had an image to uphold and he wouldn't like it tarnished for anything. People would think the Head of the Disciplinary Committee had gone soft then the school would be in shambles.

He made a vow to himself, as he turned back to look at her closed window, that he would keep if it killed him; he would protect the ever-smiling Haru with his life.
