"And right through these doors, we have a spacious family room," said Donna, the real-estate agent. Jacob turned to Bella with a hopeful look. Bella looked back at him with a look that said "I don't know about this one" and shrugged.

"Come on, Bella! This is the fifth house we've seen. What's wrong with this one?"

Bella could tell that Jacob was getting upset with her but she just couldn't help it. "A house is a big commitment, Jacob, and I'm just not sure this is the house I want to spend the rest of my life in," she said.

Donna looked at the couple, shuffling in her spot awkwardly. "I think I'll just… I'll be out here if you need me," she said and slipped out of the room.

Jacob sighed. "You have been coming up with excuses for the longest time Bella. Every single house. They haven't even been good excuses: I don't like the color in here; there are too many cabinets in here; the kitchen is too small!"

"Wait, that last one was legitimate."

Jacob gave Bella a side-eye glare. "Maybe if you weren't ogling the damn kitchen when we first walked in here. Don't think I wasn't watching for your reaction, Bella."

"Yeah, but–"

Jacob walked over to her and put his arms around her waist. "Look, honey, I know you're scared. I know your mother is always telling you not to get comfortable," Bella looked away from him and Jacob tilted her chin up with his index finger, "Look at me. We are not your parents, Bella. I won't hurt you."

Despite the tears forming in her eyes, Bella gave Jacob a small smile. "I know; I know you won't. But what if I really don't like the house?"

Jacob laughed. "You're stubborn as hell, Bells." He wiped an escaped tear from just below her eye. "We both know you love this place. But if you did say that, then I'd feel really bad." He turned Bella to face the big window on the far wall. "Because the backyard is so nice. I thought we could have the wedding there."

Bella sounded confused when she spoke. "Jake, what wedding?" She turned around to see Jacob kneeling on one knee, his mother's ring in his hand. Bella gasped and covered her mouth with her hand.

"What do you say, Bells? Be my wife?"

"YES!" she screamed. Jacob stood up and placed the ring on her left ring finger and then he placed a soft kiss on her lips.

"Change your mind about the house?"

Bella shrugged. "I guess I could grow to love it."

Jacob gave her a toothy grin. "That's great, because I already brought it."
