'Where'd you go? I miss you so much, sometimes it feels like its been forever since I last saw you.'
She felt all of her blood drain to her feet as she read the notes. A deep chill set in and the final paper slid from her numb fingers.
'I want nothing more to do with you...'
How? It wasn't possible. It was a dream. It had to be.
But, she knew it wasn't. It was really happening.
She pulled her cell from her pocket and hit the first speed dial. Her heart dropped, it had gone to voice mail after only one ring.
"Hey, this is Lindsey, and if you're listening to this, I'm kinda busy. So, please leave a message after the..." the voice stopped, followed by the traditional beep.
"Where the hell are you?" Catherine started. "This better not be some kind of joke, Lindsey Willows. You need to come home right now and I mean it."
'...the place you're supposed to live, remember that?'
She hung up, anger had taken over the previous cold feeling. It almost made her feel better. She knew how to handle anger. The fear and numbness were forign to her. It terrified her.
She walked over to the stereo and turned the machine off. It had been playing the same song since she had walked through the door. The words tore through her as the truth revealed itself.
Her emotions finally caught up to her and she slowly slid down the wall.
She was gone. Really gone.
'...I wont be here, I'll be gone, long gone.'
She pulled her phone out of her pocket again and called Lindsey again. She was sent to voice mail again.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell at you" she almost whispered as tears rolled down her cheek. "Please come home, Lindsey. Please." A sob escaped her throat. "I'm really sorry, but I... I don't have any excuses. You're right, I'm not home enough. I'll try harder, I promise. You just need to come home, please."
'...you don't really know what you've got till its gone...'
