Disclaimer: I wish I owned Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. I would elaborate more on the life of the Mustang and the others.
This is during the period when Mustang is blind and in the hospital. He's been talking to Riza. Barda and the others have left for "lunch" (A.N: I'm sure that's exactly what they're doing absolutely positive uh huh)
"You know Riza being blind isn't so bad"
"How so?"
"Well, your other senses improve to compensate for the lack of sight."
He paused.
(A.N: Even with improved senses he still didn't sense Barda and Fury right outside the door listening to every word.)
"I hear a lot more."
"Like what?" she asked curiously
"Um... like" he began to turn red. Earlier that day he had heard some things from Havoc, Fury and Barda. Havoc was talking about his "girlfriend" then and Barda and Fury started talking about several people who were higher up like the Armstrongs and a couple others. They finally got around to talking about him. He was interested in what they might say. They talked about him being a womanizer and how very annoying that could be. Then Fury said something like
"But we know that's an act. He's obviously in love with Lieutenant Hawkeye."
Everyone else agreed with Fury. Colonel Mustang soon to be General Mustang figured out by his subordinates. He couldn't help but wonder what else they knew about him.
"Um... like Havoc bragging about his girlfriend." He finished (A.N: Nice save.)
They both laughed.
He wasn't ready to admit that he loved her. Not yet.
