A/N: Okay so this is a companion story to the one shot I just posted called Pieces… This one will be told from Hotch's POV…
Disclaimer: I don't own CM or the song…
Prompt: Sad Eyes – Enrique Iglesias
Hotch had sat in his office looking out his office window looking at Emily. He knew that he had hurt her by breaking it off but he didn't feel as if he deserved her. He didn't feel as if he deserved anybodies love. His own heart was broken but he didn't know what to do about it. So instead of going out to Emily and taking her into his arms like he wanted to he stayed in his office and watched her from a distance.
He watched as she got up and almost ran out of the bull pen. He had seen the tears in her eyes even from up here. His own sad eyes followed her as she disappeared out of the BAU bull pen. He wanted to go after her but he stayed in his chair. He knew that if he went after her that it would only give her false hope and himself false hope. He may love her with his whole heart but he didn't feel like he was good enough for her.
He should have been doing work but he couldn't. All he could do was see Emily's face as he told her he was ending it. All he could do is watch out his office window for her to come back. But when she did finally come back he got the shock of his life. He watched as she picked up her purse and her laptop case and walked back out of the bull pen. As he saw her walking towards the glass doors of the bull pen he got up from his chair and walked out to the catwalk in front of his office. In his mind he was trying to get her to stop and his heart broke even more when she didn't even look back at him.
He went back into his office and shut his door. He needed to be alone again. He waited a few minutes and before he could stop himself he picked up his cell phone and dialed Emily's. When it went to the voicemail he left one. He kept calling her and not once did she answer his calls. It was then he knew just how much he had hurt not only himself but Emily.
He broke down crying as he felt his heart breaking all over again. He knew he had no one but himself to blame but that didn't make it any better. He knew that if he would have just told her his fears that everything would have been fine.
As he cried he whispered "I'm sorry Emily. I'm so sorry Emily. I love you and I'm so sorry."
