Summery: Clark may be dying... again. Sequel to Bitter Sweet

It has been two days since he had killed the redheaded goth he now knows as Rachel Nave but it all seemed like just yesterday he ripped her beating heart from her chest. Some times he could still see the blood on the back of his hand, staining his arm and no matter how hard he scrubbed the blood was still there. Looking at his bandaged arm

He heard a knock on his door and automatically knew it was his mother. Ignoring the knocks he continued his task of boarding up his window.

"I'm worried about him, Jonathan," Martha said coming down stairs, "He hasn't come out of his room for two days!" "I know, I am too but I'm sure he'll be fine. We'll have to keep in mind that he has been resurrected and is not the same…" Suddenly they heard slow footsteps coming down the stairs. Without a word to his parents Clark walked over to the big window and started boarding it up. Martha noticed his hand and arm were bandaged up, "Clark, what happened to your arm?" There was no answer but both parents visibly saw him wince at the question. "Since when do you need a hammer for anything, son?" Clark hesitated as he turned around, "Since I'm dying and I lost my powers." Just then Martha's heart dropped like a lead ball. 'No, not again. I lost my son once, I won't lose him again,' "I'm going for a drive." Clark moved to the front door as Martha went out the back. "Why are you boarding up his windows?" He turned to face his farther, "Because I'm dying," He enunciated the last word as if he was hard of hearing. Turning back to the door he added, "I don't deserve sun after what I did."

Ever since learning that Clark's heart was giving out because of kryptonite was in it Jonathan has had mixed feelings. He didn't want Clark to die a second time and he hated Rachel Nave for being a krypto mutant with kryptonite in her heart but he was also glad that the heart stopped Clark blackouts. He needed human hearts to survive but after consuming Rachel Nave's heart the blackouts had stopped and there were no more victims with their hearts missing.

Even though he had boarded the house up he refused to feel sorry for himself because 'What's dead should stay dead' as he told his mom to try to stop her from trying to find a way to save him so instead of locking himself in his room like he thought of doing he decided to make the most of the time he had left with his parents.

His parents were watching him sleep again; he knew it without opening his eyes. They have been watching him sleep for the past few days, making sure he was still breathing. Over the days his breathing has became more ragged and he sounded like he had fluid in it lungs.

He sat up when Jonathan can back with the popcorn as the movie started. "What are we watching?" he asked in a weak voice. "New York Minute." The two Kents laughed at their son's moan. "I'm kidding son, we're watching The Dark Night." Smiling Clark turned his attention to the TV. The Dark Night was a very good movie, to bad Clark never got to see the ending of it. "At least he's not suffering anymore." Martha just nodded as a single tear slid down her cheek.
