just letting you know that this is gonna be a prequel to The Ashes Sky, my previous novel. There will be references to it but not major plots around it. Hope you Enjoy! 3

I jolt up in bed. I look around to find posters of Sonic, Crash Bandicoot, Nintendo and other various game characters and company posters surrounding me that are stuck onto a white wall. I see what looks like to be an old HP Personal Computer on an old black desk with the working space on a lovely slab of polished Huon Pine. The bright moon light that is just making it through a crack in my curtains is resting on a dusty PlayStation 2 with a Ratchet & Clank disc resting on top of it. This room seems vaguely familiar, but I don't know where I've seen it from. I slowly get out of bed and walk to the window.
As my eyes adjust to the moonlight, I see a bunch of identical houses lined perfectly in uniform on the other side of the street. All made from what looks like black brick, with a 3-metre-tall chimney with lesser amounts of black smoke seeping out. I decide to see what's outside of my room. I walk over to the door and as I open it, a gush of warm air that warms my heart hits my body, and I can faintly smell burning wood. At this moment I realize who I am. I am Matt Watson, born an only child, 15 years old, Huge nerd and very interested in a variety of video games. As I start to descend the stairs, the last few minutes of my nightmare get revived in my mind, and they seem as fresh as a zesty salad.
