A kiss between Kimberly Ann Possible and Ronald Stoppable followed their most dangerous mission. It followed her false relationship with a hostile artificial life form. More significantly, it followed both Kim's and Ron's lifetime of friendship.
It occurred at the junior prom while everyone was slow dancing. It caught the eyes of Rufus who was proud of himself, Monique who had to contain herself from leaping for joy, and Bonnie who was jealous.
Ron once got a mistletoe smooch on the cheek from Kim and one on the lips while influenced by computer chip that manipulated human emotions. Neither of those compared nor counted. Kim kissed other boys before, but she and Ron felt it was the real deal.
They equally loved the pressing of lips and the sweet taste. The cool air and soothing lights enhanced a emotionally romantic connection between two young adults. They would remember it for the rest of their lives as the beginning of their greatest mission ever.
On the Sunday morning after the prom, Ron sat in his tree house. His mother prepared scrambled eggs, bacon and toast, but he picked at it. In fact, he had not eaten in the last forty or so hours. He was not sad, depressed or upset. He was simply unaccustomed to being in love.
Kim required a break from events of the last week. She defeated her arch enemy Dr. Drakken. But also found two men, one that failed the humanity test, and the other who passed it. Ron was the latter, and the one she chose as her true love, the boyfriend who counts. Neither teen had the nerve to call each other.
So Kim, who always felt she could do anything, awakened, showered, wore her Sunday best and took a five minute walk straight to his tree house. Without announcing, she climbed the planks of wood nailed to the tree and peeked through the entrance.
"Good morning. Please, make yourself comfortable." Ron saw the most beautiful woman of his dreams enter. He stood and slid an ottoman next to the little couch where he sat. Rufus remained asleep, but it was not why Ron stayed quiet.
A look of surprise was on her face, because of his too calm, too collected body language. Kim saw his uneaten meal and pondered. "You and I haven't spoken since late last night."
"I never expected our kiss," Ron responded. He knew Kim would broach the topic sooner rather than later, as she had steadfast ways.
"Great moments just happen, Ron," Kim footnoted.
"You were my beacon for hopes and dreams, then you fulfilled them. You started something important."
"Does this mean you want us to date?" Kim teared up from joy but wondered why he still seemed despondent.
"Yes, it does, and I really love you," Ron gently wiped away her tears. "The most pressing issue is my holding onto a good thing for very long. I believe you're above and beyond a good thing."
"You'll never lose me. I love you, too. You're my best friend, my beacon, my fulfillment of hopes and dreams. I damn myself for not noticing sooner." She firmly grasped his trembling hands.
"It's nothing to damn yourself about." Ron returned the gentle squeeze.
"Thank you," Kim snuggled up to him on the love seat. "You don't mind, do you?"
"We sat here together many times." He gulped.
"Our first seating as a couple, that's if everything we've discussed in the past few minutes is true."
"Sure it is, but at least we could mention how our attraction originated. Mine was seconds after your Moodulator kiss, even though it was artificial."
"Oh, but they were neither artificial nor manipulations. It's inventor clarified that it enhances emotions. Meaning, I did have a sexual attraction to you. I just didn't want to ruin our friendship. But when you did the Naked Mole Rap, darling Ronald, that was my catalyst." Kim booped his nose. "I'm not kidding even a little bit about that."
Ron lightly waved her away in disbelief. His performance of that song was for an American Idol ripoff that was cancelled two weeks later. "Did you know there's a German dub of it on YouTube?"
"Well that's even hotter." She rested her head on his shoulder.
Rufus suddenly hopped out of his little bed into Ron's lap but he had not noticed. Then the mole rat jumped toward the untouched breakfast and chowed down.
"Where do we go from here, Kim?" Ron held his girlfriend closely.
"I still have to save the world with you and Rufus at my side. Not much will change, except you and I doing so a loving couple. The hell with naysayers like Bonnie."
"Business as usual." Ron kissed her lush, soft, strawberry-scented hair then stared into her emerald green eyes. Kim Possible was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.
"As it should be," Kim gazed into his brown eyes, knowing he was handsome. She ran her fingers through his short, blonde hair.
They kissed again. A breeze passed through the tree house. The new mission was underway.
SO THE BEGINNING
