AN: Another Fruits Basket oneshot! This one is short and fluffy. I've always loved stormy atmospheres both in real life and in stories, it's just so relaxing to me.

Sorry it's so short, it was a tiny drabble written while listening to rain.

I don't own FB or YukiRu would've been endgame.

The gentle sound of rain outside replaced the usual silence of the still night air. A certain former rat always loved lying awake listening to the softly thumping drops and slow rumble of thunder on nights like this. The damn cat hated rain, that was a fact, but he didn't truly appreciate the unseen beauty. The chilling of the air, the calming orchestra of nature, the revival and sustenance of life... Indeed, Yuki felt very at peace anytime the rain fell.

Everyone else in the house was asleep, but the gray haired teen simply lay fully conscious with his eyes closed, ears alert and listening to every drop as it hit the window.

Timid and slow shifting against his back had the rat opening his eyes, turning his gaze to the girl behind him, her arms wrapped tightly around him. Tohru was still asleep, although aware enough to register the sounds of rain and cling to him. Whether it was fear or affection - or both - didn't matter... She was holding onto him freely and pressing her face to his back. That was what did matter.

Gracefully and careful not to wake her, he turned in her arms and looked down at her resting face. A faint smile curved her mouth. How he loved seeing her like this... Knowing she chose him of all the boys in the world made his heart beat irregularly and feel as though it was melting and floating at the same time. He didn't deserve Honda-san... He was imperfect. He wasn't always calm and collected. His anger sometimes got the better of him. He had flaws. He had embarrassing moments... He had a troubled past... Yet... She loved him for it. She always told him she understood and not a single person on earth is perfect, and even if there was such a person, she wanted only him. His flaws made him who he was... She loved all of what made him, him...

He placed a soft kiss to her forehead, running a gentle patient hand through her brown hair. He would treasure her and the moments they shared forever. He loved her and her quirky personality. The way she would panic at the smallest things yet easily found comfort in a single word. The way she recoiled into herself when upset, or isolate herself when memories of her mother got too much to bear. The way she would yell at him if he refused a meal due to studying and drag him to the table... He loved how she would melt at his touch, leaning into him even if his fingers just lightly skimmed over hers when he helped with the dishes, or if she tripped and fell and needed help balancing.

Tohru Honda was indeed very special to Yuki Sohma. No one could ever take her place in his heart. As the pitter patter of rain hitting the window and roof continued, he made a silent promise to always be at her side, to never go to sleep angry with her, to be the one she could always count on.

The girl sighed in her sleep pressing closer to him. "Love you...Yuki...kun..." He smiled and curled around her. Even in her dreams she would say those wonderful words... He pressed his face into her strawberry scented hair.

"I love you too, Tohru-chan..."

A bright flash outside lit up the room followed by the deep growl of thunder, the wind picking up and shaking the house. Even so, the rat relaxed and eased into the best sleep he had ever had, holding the riceball close to his chest and counting his blessings, praying she would never be taken from him.
