Title: Series of Firsts
Pairing: Ron/Draco
Rating: PG
Summary: First sight, first kiss, first time - their lives in firsts.
Dedication: lysrouge, written as an early Xmas present. Hope you enjoy it, sweetie.
A/N: Loads of thanks to tesria for the beta and encouragement, all mistakes are my own. First try at this pairing. The request was Ron/Draco, firsts.

The first sight was recognition: a smothered giggle, a disdainful stare. The first words were poison, spat out in disgust, aimed with deadly accuracy to hit its mark: to hurt, to harm. The first touch, like winter: cold and sharp and biting.

The first kiss, fire: scalding, burning, tasting ashes on tongues - ashes, rekindled again and again. Never forgetting their first taste of fire, addicted - they craved to burn.

The first time was like immersing hot glass into cold water - crack, splinter, break apart into a million pieces - shattering and dangerous. They were too different: one too hot (fire itself, intense, bright), the other too cold (like ice, aloof, shaded). They clashed (one freckled and tall and lanky, the other so much like a porcelain doll), they were on different ends of a scale; so different - but yet the same.

The first time they were seen together was like Armageddon itself; explosive and foreboding - and the talk of the town.

Their first winter came and went, followed by their first summer and then their first year.

The first trial, the first test, the first argument - a lot of firsts - all during their first war.

Then came the peace and the tears and the joy that came with their first nephew (Charlie and Fleur's little one - so beautiful, so precious) and their first real jobs (soldiering didn't count, they never chose to fight that war).

The war made things different - everything was new, everything untried, nothing repeating. Someone once said that you could never step in the same stream twice - the water's always moving, always changing, going forwards - that's like time.

That was their life, chronicled and counted, one first after another.
