Lost without him
By Lucia Widdop
It was too difficult waking up and Sakura Haruno wished she could fall back asleep and everything be okay again.
The night before she'd watched helplessly as the one guy she loved Sasuke Uchiha left her forever choosing her over bitter revenge.
She sat up on the bench where he'd left her, her head still hurt from where he'd struck her but nowhere near as much as her heart did.
She pressed her fingers to her face which was still damp with tears and she briefly reminisced about one of the encounters she'd had with Sasuke.
It was just after they'd been teamed together with Naruto and she'd tried to talk to him, stupidly she'd babbled on about Naruto being selfish due to lack of parents not realising that Sasuke too had no parents.
That was when he'd called her annoying.
She'd been so crushed at his rejection but it was nothing compared to what she was feeling now.
She knew that she wasn't strong enough to bring him back she couldn't even defeat that damn Ino pig in the Chunnin exam and she'd seen how strong he was against Gaara despite the disadvantage due to the Shikaku sand armour.
There was only one person that could bring Sasuke back and though it killed Sakura to ask him for a favour she needed this.
It had been difficult explaining to the guards that Sasuke had left but it was more difficult watching Shikamaru, Chouji, Neji, Kiba (and Akamaru of course) and Naruto leave to bring him back whilst she was left behind.
Not even Lee had been able to comfort her and he'd tried.
He'd taken her out for dates, he'd stayed with her and he'd held her whilst she cried.
Although she couldn't find the words to thank him or bring herself to talk about what had happened she appreciated it.
Until that one day.
She'd finally told him everything that had happened and had watched as his face turned purple in anger.
He'd held her for what had seemed like hours whilst she cried and spoke of her worries that they wouldn't succeed in saving him.
She spoke of his self destructive journey and how afraid she was, how he didn't care what Orochimaru did to him as long as he got to kill Itachi.
She told him about the Chuunin exam how easily and merciless he had been when that cursed seal had covered him, how she feared for the others who had now gone after him.
That was when Rock Lee made her a promise.
He promised her he'd go and fight despite her protests about the surgery.
He said that she'd been there for him and now it was his turn.
She barely even blinked before he'd left.
And so she sat on the same bench where it'd had all began hoping and praying for a miracle and for her not to be lost without him.
