"Well, that sucked." Frank was unequivocal in his disgust.

Jamie settled himself behind the steering wheel. "You're right, it blowed." He agreed as he revved the engine to life.

"I wonder when that happened," Frank mused, after a few minutes silence.

"What?" Jamie asked.

"I said it sucked. You said it blowed. Yet we were saying the same thing. When did suck and blow come to mean the same thing? In my day, they were complete opposites."

"You're just showing your age, Dad," Jamie teased.

Frank grinned, then his face turned thoughtful. "So, which is best? Sucking or blowing?" he queried.

"I guess it depends on what you want," Jamie stated. "Sucking hides things, blowing definitely puts things on view. Sucking keeps things contained, blowing spreads them. Sucking causes slickness, blowing causes friction. Sucking definitely takes less time than blowing. Sucking – "

"Jamie." Frank interrupted his son's litany, trying hard not to laugh. "I'm thinking of buying a new vacuum cleaner!"
