It was only their second actual date, and Yuki was cursing himself for that as he sat by the stretcher in the ambulance.
We were out on a date,
in my daddy's car.
We hadn't driven very far
when there in the road,
straight ahead,
a car was stalled,
it's engine was dead.
Shuichi Shindou was on that stretcher. Partially died blood coated his pink hair, and a lot of his clothing. He was beaten up pretty bad. Yuki wasn't crying, though. He couldn't cry, not now. He had to be strong for Shuichi. Yuki thought abstractly that if his life was going to end up like one of his novels, he would have written more happy endings.
I couldn't stop,
so I swerved to the right.
i'll never forget
the sound that night...
Yuki wasn't wearing his seat-belt and Shuihci had been nagging him about it. "I've never worn it before and i've been fine so far," had been his reply. And he said it with barely a glance at the singer beside him. The funny thing was it had saved his life, not wearing it. He was thrown from the car. The drivers side was completey smashed in, but Yuki only saw that after it had happened because he had been knocked unconscious.
The screaming tires, the busting glass,
the painful scream that I heard last.
Where, oh where can my baby be?
The lord to him away from me.
he's gone to heaven
so I've got to be good,
so I can see my baby
when I leave this world.
When Yuki came to, it was raining and there were lights and sirens everywhere. He tried to stand and failed. He thought of Shuichi and looked towards the remains of his car though his blood-filled eyes. The car was in horrible shape, the steering wheel was pushed up against the front seat and the passenger side was only a little bit better. The smell of gasoline permeated the air and shattered glass littered the ground. Yuki tried again to stand, succeeded this time, and moved to where they were loading Shuichi's battered body into an ambulance.
When I woke up
the rain was pouring down.
There were people standing all around.
Something warm flowing though my eyes,
somewhow I found my baby that night.
Yuki was allowed into the ambulance by saying he was Shuichi's brother. He wouldn't sit though, he knelt by Shuichi's head in the minimal space provided. The author lifted a hand to his lover's cheek and purple eyes opened. "Shuichi."
"I love you, Yuki." the singer's words were rough and quiet, like speaking was painful.
I lifted his head, he looked at me and said
"hold me, darling, just a little while"
I held him close, I kissed him our last kiss.
I found the love that I knew I had missed.
Of course, Yuki shushed him. "I love you too, Shuichi." It was still hard saying it and it still felt strange even with Shuichi in this state. He guessed he was just never meant to say I love you. "I'm sorry." There was a prickly feeling at the back of his eyes that signified tears. "Listen, I —"
"I know," Shuichi cut him off with a small smile. "Yuki, kiss me?"
And now he's gone,
even though I hold him tight.
I lost my love, my life that night.
The public was deavsted, of course, but no one had taken it like Eiri Yuki had. He dealt with it the only way he knew how, he wrote about it. The novel was his biggest hit yet but Yuki died that night, just weeks after his lover had.
Where oh where can my baby be?
The lord took him away from me.
He's gone to heaven,
so I've to got to be good,
so I can see my baby
when I leave this world.
I just killed Shu-chan! How did that happen? He's my favorite! (Next to Ryu-sama of course) I'm a terrible person. I'm sorry.
