Claire would toss and turn and scream in her sleep, making it notoriously hard for Elle to be in bed next to her. Every night Elle would wake up to her girlfriend screaming and shifting in her arms.
She would slowly start to shake the younger girl to wake her.
On the odd night, Claire got a peaceful much needed night of undisturbed sleep, Elle would lie awake just watching the former cheerleader sleep peacefully.
However this was not one of those nights.
Elle tried continuously to wake Claire up and about five minutes later, she succeeded.
Claire cuddled up to Elle and started sobbing.
" It's okay, it's okay" Elle said as she stroked Claire's head.
Claire just continued sobbing.
" Do you want to talk about it ?"Elle said gently and kissed the top of Claire's head.
"Sylar ... and you ... and ... " Claire just cuddled closer to Elle.
"Claire" Elle said sympathetically.
Claire sniffed and looked up at Elle.
"come on Claire, you know you can tell me anything" Elle said and gave Claire a quick kiss.
Claire smiled a half smile at the gesture.
" Sylar killed you and by the time I got there, I was too late. You were just lying there and there was blood everywhere and there was nothing I could do" Claire said between sobs.
Elle sighed. A lot of Claire's dreams were like this . It didn't really surprise Elle seeing as Sylar had tried to kill her once but she only just survived.
"Claire, Claire I need you to look at me okay" Elle said tilting Claire's chin upwards.
Claire nodded.
" You have to listen to me okay ? I am alright Claire and I am not going anywhere. Okay ? You can't get rid of me that easily" Elle said but got no response from the cheerleader.
" But Elle I love you and I don't ever want to see that happen" Claire said and started crying again.
" Claire I love you too and you are never going to have to see that. I promise " Elle said while starting to wipe the tears from her eyes before kissing Claire again.
Claire smiled into the kiss.
" You always now just what to say don't you ? " Claire said.
" Yes I do, now try and get some sleep " Elle said and let Claire rest in the crook of her neck.
Once Claire was sleeping and happily cuddled up in Elle's arms, Elle looked at the clock.
1:03 am.
She had been awake with Claire for 2 hours.
She was exhausted but then she looked at the small blond cuddled up in her arms and she instantly smiled.
Sure she was tired and sure she wished she could get a good night's sleep now and again but she loved Claire and she wouldn't have it any other way.
So with that thought in mind she let her eyes close and she drifted into a peaceful sleep.
