When I wake
And greet the day
The breeze is sweet
The roses sway
And You are near.
At my school
And on the bus
Though kids are bad
And teachers fuss
You are near.
The sky is dark
And pours down rain
And all the world
Is filled with pain
But You are near.
And when I cry
And feel unloved
I feel alone
But look above
And know You're near.
But then Your love
Envelopes me
And so I laugh
For I am free
Because You are near.
So when I stand
And come back to You
You heal my soul
And make me new
And I draw near.
Because the love
Of Jesus Christ
Has filled my heart
And I'm alive
Because You are near.
So tell them, Lord
Of Your mercy and grace
That everyone I know
May see Your face
And know You are near.
