"Tensions"
Work: King Arthur
Genre: Romance/Angst
Rating: PG
Characters: Arthur/Lancelot, Guinevere
Warnings: suggests slash
There had been tensions between him and Lancelot since the bishop set them to their final task. Lancelot had pleaded with him to not accept, had denounced Rome and all it stood for, and yet he came nonetheless. They had fought side by side like always, but still things were not the same. Lancelot's usually bright eyes were dulled; his usually laughing face was grim.
It had been almost unreal to Arthur, this rift between them. Lancelot wore a look almost resembling reproach, but the silence hit Arthur the hardest of all.
Guinevere came to him that night, with soft skin and whispers, and promises of consolation and comfort. But memories of another dominated his mind even as he touched her – and so he turned her away.
