"Why?"
The question lingered in the cold air of an empty Hogwarts corridor. Two pairs of identical grey eyes stared into each other as if their life depended on it.
"I had no choice-" Regulus started weakly, but was interrupted before he had a chance to finish.
"You had a choice!" Sirius suddenly shouted. "You just picked the wrong one," he added glaring at the younger boy.
Regulus had betrayed him.
Regulus winced, closing his eyes. He knew that Sirius was telling the truth, but he didn't want to accept it- he couldn't accept it. It was too late now and lies were the only thing he had left. So as stormed off and left him alone in that corridor just like he had left him when he ran away from home, only this time there wasn't a plea for him to come with his brother, only one thought crossed Regulus' mind:
Sirius had betrayed him.
