Azure Kaleidoscope
Rain pitter-pattered against the window of Xemnas' apartment. It was a lazy Saturday afternoon, and the sun was beginning to set. It was muggy out; the air was heavy with the rain. It was about mid July, and there was still quite a bit light out.
Xemnas stepped out onto the damp pavement. What he had been able to see of the sun had slipped behind a thick hazy cloud, leaving a sort of prismatic mist lingering in the sky.
The dark corners of the alley that Xemnas' apartment stairs splayed out onto were suddenly occupied by a strange presence. A young girl in pale white garb with a slide of buttery blonde hair that melted down one shoulder and dripped over her eyes had managed her way into the otherwise deserted alleyway. She stumbled slowly, almost aimlessly over the crumbling gravel and rock traps that littered the dank location.
Her porcelain skin almost seemed to rip off her fingertips as she brushed them against the decaying brick walls that closed the alley off from the outside, giving the area the unadulterated feeling of a solitude that Xemnas adored so much about his decrepit abode.
The girl's presence was ethereal. She contrasted the somber colours of the abandoned haven in a way that suited the dismal walkway, making her appear just as mislaid as customary to the location.
Her eyes never left the ground as she made her way closer to where Xemnas was standing.
She stopped moving.
Grey eyes opened.
Amber and pearl glimpsed one another.
And they locked.
Xemnas extended his right hand towards the girl.
The rain started again.
The girl silently lifted hers and placed it in his.
Rain was pouring down on the pair.
Their hands slid together, both soft and smooth as daisy petals.
The rain kept coming.
Intertwined, their hands trembled.
Their clothes were soaked. Her simple dress and his simple button down blouse were both becoming transparent.
The girl lifted her eyes toward the sky. She saw grey.
He brushed his free hand across her cheek and tilted her chin down.
The rain slammed the earth harder.
The trenches of water filling the alleyway, creating rivers and lakes and oceans it seemed were inundated with the relentless torrent. The rain shattered the glass lakes scattering fragments of the flood skyward once more.
The timid sun's rays could still be seen through an azure kaleidoscope that coiled up around the misty sprays.
Her eyes flickered blue for a moment.
The rain stopped.
Their hands fell apart.
She turned the other way.
"Thank you." she murmured.
She ran.
He stayed.
He waits for the rain now.
It's what keeps him from drowning.
