Hatter pulled a small hand mirror out of a drawer that she usually kept locked. She held the mirror at eye level, but it wasn't her face that she saw in the glass. She saw Alice.

She rarely used this mirror, it was her only way to spy in her counter part, but it felt like a reminder of the fact that she was only Alice's other half. She wasn't her own person.

Hatter didn't know why she was looking at the mirror now, she didn't like to have to look at Alice. Still, a part of her didn't want to turn her gaze away. Alice had everything that Hatter secretly wanted.

Alice had a life, a family, she was free. Yet, she seemed to be able to loose all of the fortunes life had given her very easily. She didn't know how lucky she was.

Hatter threw the mirror hard against the wall, hoping that it would shatter into a million pieces. However, it landed on the ground with a soft thud. Hatter bent over to pick it up, there wasn't a single scratch on it.

She looked back at Alice's face one more time. Hatter sneered when she realized that Alice had tears in her eyes. Why was she crying? She had the prefect life, the kind you dream of.

Hatter tucked the mirror in the drawer and violently slammed it shut. She tried to will her thoughts away from Alice. She wished that she had something happy to think about, but her life was an endless pit of darkness.

She wished that she had been able to break the mirror, maybe if it was destroyed the connection between Alice and her would be broken. She was foolish to think like that, she knew that these thoughts would only lead to waisting more time staring at that looking glass. There was no way to break it, and there was no way for her to get rid of her counter part.

This was the life that she was given, and there was no escape.
