And No, I do not own Inuyasha, if I did, there would be a -lot- less of Kikiyo.

Shippo sighed as Kagome burst from between the trees of the forest into the clearing that the group had settled for the night, her eyes red, puffy, and very dull. Shippo knew what this meant, it was the same as it always has been: Inuyasha had been spotted with Kikyo, the undead priestess. Damn that stupid dog, hurting her like this...-AGAIN!- Shippo howled inwardly in rage but a small gleam of contentment sparked in his emerald eyes. It had been over ten`` years since he had met Kagome. She had been like a mother to him...and yet, there were deeper feelings that had developed over the last year. Her scent had changed from the comforting one of a mother to something else that he couldn't quite describe.

His eyes rose to find her form crumpled against her bedroll and a tree, her eyes covered by her long raven bangs.

"Kagome?" Questioned Sango quietly, only to earn a small shake of her head.

"I-I'm fine..." She murmured, just barely enough for Sango and him to hear. "I-I should be used to this b-by now...A dog never forgets their first master.." Kagome shook her head again, sniffling as she goes over to her big yellow backpack, her hands trembling as several different emotions coursed through her body.

Anger, hurt, and Jealousy were the strongest scents coming from her as far as Shippo could tell, causing a spark of rage to surge through him, angry at the Hanyu for hurting Kagome...Again.

Producing a small music player and a pair of white headphones from her bag, she rises from her spot and glances over the group, tears still clinging to her cheeks as she let out a heavy sigh. "I-I'll be back in a while...I need to think.." She sniffled before turning and walking back into the trees, trying hard to conceal her emotions from the others.

"That poor girl...If only Inuyasha could understand the amount of pain he puts her through every single time he goes sniffing around that woman." Miroku murmured, sipping some fresh tea, watching the opening where Kagome had left through.

Sango nodded in agreement, "It seems like he's been running off to her more often, makes me wonder what he's doing.." She spat the final words out in complete disgust as she runs her fingers through Kirara's fur.

` Shippo scrunched his nose in disgust. If only they could smell what I can every time he returns, it's disgusting. Standing up quickly, Shippo began to walk towards Kagome's things, earning a raised brow from Sango.

"Shippo? Where are you going?" She questioned, pausing her pets on Kirara, earning a disappointed squeak.

"I'm going to make sure she's alright, she didn't take her bow with her...and I'm worried." He locked eyes with Sango, begging that she ask no more questions. With a nod of understanding, she returned to stroking Kirara's fur, not looking at Shippo any longer as she turned to speak with Miroku.

Hitching the bow over his shoulder, he turned and followed Kagome's scent into the woods, careful not to disturb any wildlife

Tears slid down Kagome's cheeks as she walked through the dense woods, the headphones playing some sort of slow "heartbreak" Type song, low enough that she could her the world around her. Th-that stupid Mutt! Why do I let myself get hurt like this?! She questioned herself 'because you love him?' spoke a small voice in the back of her head Still...It seems to hurt worse and worse every time. She frowns to herself, the pain in her chest seeming to numb her entire body.

"Kagome!"

Kagome turned her head at the sound of her name, turning to see Shippo right behind her, bow and arrows in hand as he ran up to her, his emerald eyes filled with concern.

"Sh-Shippo?" She mumbled his name.

Shippo held the bow up. "You uh...left these and I thou-" He paused noticing the streaks caused by tears down her cheeks, her tail flicking with rage as he resisted the urge to bare his teeth. That jerk, always hurting Kagome like this.. Shippo stepped closer, dropping the bow on the ground as he cupped her cheek. Instead of moving away like she normally did, Kagome pressed her face against his hand, closing her eyes to hide her grief.

Soft...He thought as he felt her skin against his hand. "Kagome.." He murmured quietly to the woman, "He really hurt you this time, didn't he?"

With a shudder she threw her arms around his midsection and buried her head into his chest, slowly he moved to the ground, crossing his legs in order to create a comfortable spot for her to sit as he held her close.

She sobbed into him, gripping his kimono tightly. "Kagome...what did yo-" She cut him off with a small cry.

"H-he...Th-they..." She stammered more tears falling as she screamed into his chest. "Th-they were-" This time Shippo cut her off, one hand running through her silky raven hair.

"I know that's what he was doing with her..." He sighed, feeling guilty for keeping this from her. "He's been doing this for a while now...her scent was all over him when he came back last night." He frowned as she looked up at him, her eyes searching his for answers.

"Why -her?!-" She shuddered, pounding a fist against his chest as more sobs escaped her.

"I wish I knew, Kagome, dogs are like that...I guess, they like to play with dirt." He sighed again for what felt like the millionth time that day, holding her tightly as she continued to cry into his kimono, his tail, no longer the puffball he had as a child, around her form protectively. That idiot better realize what he's done. I'll never understand dogs and their fascination with dirt . He thought viciously.

He blinked, being pulled from his thoughts at the sensation of Kagome stroking his tail. "Soft..."She murmured, a small smile gracing her lips as she closed her reddened eyes, her hand stilling as she drifted off to sleep, her head braced against his chest. She's been so sad lately...He thought to himself. It's nice to get...even the littlest of smiles out of her. He yawned softly, resting his head on top of hers, his tail tightening around her protectively as he drifts to sleep as well, the faint sound of music tickling his ears as her headphones fall to the ground.
