"Red."
"Gray."
"Garry, they're going to be red. Now stop testing me."
"Come on, darling, gray eyes are adorable!"
"What are you two bickering about?"
The two in question turned from their positions on the plush couch to meet the freakishly blue eyes of Eve's sister, Mary. She stood in the doorway, one hand on her hip.
"What color the baby's eyes will be." Eve answered. "And they'll be red, won't they, Mary?" She added, planting a finger over her fiancé's parted lips before he could state their obvious gray-ness.
The blonde simply rolled her eyes, though a smile made its way across her face.
"You two are ridiculous." She ignored their protests. "Anyway, mom needs you. Wants to know what color roses you want in your wedding bouquet. I told her red, but she just won't listen."
"Alright, Mary, tell her I'll be right there."
Her sister nodded and turned to find their mother to deliver the message.
"Oh, and by the way," She paused, speaking over her shoulder, "they're going to be red."
"Aw, come on!" Garry objected as Mary flounced off. He turned to pout at Eve. "Why is everyone against me?"
"We're not against you, love." Eve replied, pecking him on the cheek. "We're just stating a fact."
"Oh, it's a fact now, is it?" He squawked, catching her around her now-prominent waist before she could retreat and tugging her into his lap. Eve giggled, halfheartedly struggling against him.
"Stop that! I've got to go and see my mum."
"Not until you agree that they're going to be gray."
He leaned forward to press a kiss to her temple but was caught off-guard when she turned her head abruptly and met his lips with her own. His eyes fluttered closed and he sighed contentedly, tilting his head to deepen the kiss. Her tongue twirled playfully around his and he groaned into her mouth, trailing his hands down her back -
She pulled away, getting to her feet. He blinked in confusion, watching her full, delicious lips quirk upwards in triumph. Damn, she'd gotten him again.
"Red."
And with that, she strode out of the room, humming happily to herself. Not one to be defeated that easily, Garry stood and headed after the mother of his unborn child with eyes that would definitely be gray.
