Mornings
"Sandy! Mom, Sandy's hogging the bath! And she's eating the soap!" Eep complained
"Sandy, come with mommy, we'll bathe later."
"Thank you."
"Sure honey, and Eep, please try not to take an hour long bath this time. I'm sure Guy likes more than what you smell like or look like."
"Mooommm!"
"I know I'm just trying to help. You really don't have to try so hard honey."
"Ughhh. I know I know, thanks mom. I'll be quick."
And she was, for once since they moved into Tomorrow. She was in and out; a simple was of the face and brush of the hair.
"Done."
"Finally! Do you know how long I've been holding it?"
"Ya ya Thunk, well now the bathroom's all yours."
"Dad! Why does Eep get to take so long!"
"Ask your mother."
"Hmph." Eep swished her hair and walked over to the coast, near the large pool of water.
"Huhh, it's so peaceful out here. Sometimes it's nice to be away from the family for a while."
"Do you mind if Belt and I join you?"
"Oh, sure Guy." She let out a soft chuckle as she brushed her hair behind her ear. She didn't know why but for the first time in her life, Eep actually maintained a nice appearance as well as trying to not act too "Cavy" like. She began to bathe morning, noon, and night. She always brushed her hair and wore flowers, she even managed to make a concoction that she called perfume, the scent from the flowers in a liquid form that made her smell nice.
She made sure her furs were always clean and that she had several she could wear so she could put on a different "style" every day. Her mom helped her for the most part and it took a while for Guy to notice, or at least to admit he had noticed the first moment he didn't see dirt on her chin and leaves in her hair. Her smell was sweet and intoxicating, the way she tucked her hair behind her ear made him shudder, in a way that made him uncomfortably awkward as well as desperate to be closer to her.
He also noticed that he always took a shower, much faster than a bath, and repainted himself everyday with fresh paint. He also made sure to wash his clothes at least once a week. He too found that some scents were appealing and caused Eep to try and get closer to him, causing him to wear those scents more often.
"So, what are you looking at?" He asked curiously.
"The water." She smiled
"Oh?" He looked at her curiously, as he tilted his head in that cute way that Eep adored and she was forced to look away in her shy manner.
"It's just so big and I feel so small. I just love the way the sun reflects off it and all the colors that show on the water. It's like they're dancing to invisible music. It just makes me feel warm inside." She shrugged her shoulders together and smiled at the rising sun and how the colors were beginning to show and dance on the water.
"Hmm, that's beautiful Eep."
"What, really?"
"Ya, you should write that down in a journal."
"A what?"
"A journal, it's where you write down ideas. Like the one you just said right now."
"Ohhh, I'll have to make one then. Will you show me?"
"Sure."
"Hey Guy?"
"Ya Eep?"
"What do call it?"
"What?"
"This water. I feel like we should give it a name. A good one."
"Ocean."
"Ocean?"
"Ya."
"Why's that?"
"Because it's so vast and it stretches out forever."
"I love it." She leaned on his shoulder, he froze for a moment as he let himself exhale and tilt his head so that it rested on hers.
"Hey Eep?"
"Ya?"
"Let's wait to go hunting a little later."
"Ok. Huhh I love mornings."
"Me too."
Their hands were intertwined behind them as they watched the sun slowly rise over the ocean, marking the beginning of a new day.
