Another one Bites the dust: A Sam Story
I felt weird. Not sick, just a little off. I was really warm, running a fever of One 'oh Nine. Toasty, but too warm. I also noticed that I was going through a major growth spurt. It was really weird. I had gotten about 7 inches taller in a month. My hair was growing like…like…a dog's. Like I said-weird. Off. My appetite was like that of a bear's! I was ravenous all of the time now, and could eat insane portions at every meal. I would have these odd cravings to be running through the woods too. Like my mom's house was too small, I would just need to escape and breathe deeply.
I was outside one of these times when I started thinking about Leah. I hadn't seen too much of her lately because her cousin, Eliza or something, was in town. I then got mad. Who was this cousin to steal my Leah from me? My beautiful, quiet, Leah? I felt rage surging through me. How dare this cousin take my true love away from me-for any period of time at all? Leah and I were engaged, I wanted to bond with her more before the wedding.
As this anger poured through me, I found myself shaking with rage and hatred. Before I knew it, I exploded. Literally. I saw red, then everything was in sharper senses. I looked around, seeing my clothes scattered. I wondered why. Then I smelled my Leah, and my tail wagged. Wait, smelled? Tail? I whirled around and tripped on my-paws? I looked around in shock, then down. I saw long, hairy legs and flat, wide paws with black claws poking out. The hair on my legs was pure black too.
This was it, I realized. I had finally cracked. Stress had been building up more and more in me lately, and now I had cracked! I howled in pain, losing my Leah, and ran through the woods, weaving around the trees gracefully. I figured if I was going crazy, why not embrace it?
