"Sapphire! Where the hell are you?" My father, if you could even call him that, called. "I'm doing the laundry!" "I'm out of beer, damn it! Go buy me some more!" Groaning, I stood up, wincing as yesterday's bruises reminded me they were there. I limped over to the dinning room and went to the couch, grabbing my purse. "Dammit Sapphire! Why aren't you gone yet!" Crack! His foot shot out and I felt a searing pain shoot up my left leg. "Aah! I need money, father." "Use your own money! That's why you have a job!" I limped away, grabbing the car keys of the kitchen table and headed for the car. I got in, and drove off to the gas station. As I was buying a 6-pack of beers, I overheard two girls in my class talking about some new kids in our school. "Yeah, like, did you see those guys? They're like, soooo hot!" "I know! We should like, ask them out!" "Yeah, but first, we have to like, get rid of their current girlfri- what do you want, freak?" One of the girls turned to look at me. "N-nothing. Sorry." I turned and went to the register, paid for the beer and left.
The next day at school, as I was walking to my class, I bumped into someone as I turned the corner and I landed on my wrist when I fell down. I winced, and then stood up, trying not to put to much pressure on my left leg. I leant down to gather my stuff and realized someone already had. I looked up and was dazzled by the most beautiful emerald green eyes I had ever seen. "I-I am so sorry! I, um, I didn't see you. Sorry!" I stuttered and turned to run away. He grabbed my arm and I cried out. "Ow!" "Oh, sorry! Do you think you could show me where the science class is?" I took my arm out of his hand and looked at the ground. "S-sure. I'm headed there now, so just follow me."
