Their Ironic Destiny
Disclaimer: I definitely don't own….
A/N: Hi!!!! So, this is just a quickie. To vent my feelings at 1:41 in the morning. Hope you enjoy!!!! Review Please!!!
She loved him. He loved her. It should be that simple.
But of course, destiny is not without a touch of irony, and it never was that simple. When she started to love him, he wasn't ready and he fled. When he loved her, she loved someone else.
They loved each other.
They wanted each other.
In all reality, they NEEDED each other.
But like I said before, destiny had other plans.
Any time they had any chance to be together, all the forces of the universe arrived to make sure that would NOT happen. They had a "Dawson and Joey" complex: soul mates that could never be. The reason for them never being is no reason at all.
To him, she was the one that got away. The love of his life. His high school sweet heart. The thing that drove him crazy, but kept him sane.
To her, he was THE one. Her first real love. Her sparing partner. Her bad boy. Her Everything.
To outsiders they were the couple destined to break up. The one that could never last…sadly, they were right.
She ran into him one weekend back in Stars Hollow. She had been visiting her mom and dad with her husband. He had been house searching with his daughter.
They starred at each other a beat before she ran up to give him a hug.
If he remembered one thing about that day was that moment that she hugged him. She smelled like coffee and old books. A scent he was very familiar with.
He returned the hug and suggested a walk…of course that ended with them sitting on the bridge, staring at their reflections. Neither of them spoke a word for the longest time. Neither had too. It was a very comfortable silence.
Finally, she chuckled and asked, "Do you think every Rory has a Jess and every Jess has a Rory?"
Does every person have that one person they want, they loved, and they needed, but couldn't have. Does every person have a soul mate?
He gave a small smile, still staring at his reflection, "For their sakes I hope so."
And, with that, they both sat there, cursing the cruel irony that this was how they ended up after all those years: she still loving him and him still loving her…
