Catch Up
Tokyo Mew Mew, Kisshu+Ichigo friendship, post A La Mode
Disclaimer: Tokyo Mew Mew isn't mine, and so the characters wouldn't be. Wouldn't be on this site if it was, right?
She didn't know how long she had been out there in the park, sitting against that old maple tree, listening to the sounds of children playing and the birds chirping freely. In all honesty, though, Ichigo didn't mind. The fourteen year old girl was just sitting - it was true that she had a date in about half an hour, but she really came here because it was a nice contrast to how everything else was back at home, school, and work.
"It's so pretty," She murmured, smiling up at a nearby bird.
This oblivious nature was why she hadn't seen a black-haired teen resting with his arm up against another tree; he smiled at the redhead.
"Yeah, isn't it?"
She blinked, turning around to see the source. "Oh, it's you."
He frowned. "Now, now... you'd think that I was some evil stalker or something."
"Well, you were two years ago," She pointed out, smirking.
"That was before you taught me Earth customs," He replied in a sing-song voice, taking a seat on the grass next to her. "So, it's been a while, hasn't it, Ichigo?"
She couldn't help smiling. "Yeah, it has. I haven't really seen much of you ever since your home planet made you an ambassador of goodwill for Earth. What kind of stuff have you been doing?"
He shrugged. "Not much, really - just traveling to a place called Washington to do boring ol' mounds of paper. They called them paperwork, but how can paper be work?"
Wow. Okay, how oblivious was he? Ichigo couldn't help giggling.
"And you," The boy then asked, brushing back his bangs. "What's up?"
"I've been with Masaya-kun a lot," She admitted, blushing. "And studying and working at the store. But! I've heard that you found a cute Earth girlfriend from a certain someone?"
Was it even possible for him to look embarrassed? He looked away from her, barely managing a nod.
She grinned. "Oh, wow! We totally have to do a double-date, okay, Kisshu?"
He stuck his tongue out. "But it'll be totally embarrassing, Ichigo. You know how you and that Masaya kid are so close it's scary to watch."
"HEY! What do you mean by that?"
Laughter was Ichigo's only reply.
Once again, the two were so caught up.. well, catching up with each other that they had yet to notice another black-haired boy stand next to them. He smiled broadly at Kisshu and Ichigo.
"Afternoon, Kisshu-san, Ichigo-chan," He greeted, bowing.
Kisshu rose, bowing as well (and it wasn't awkward, for once!) Turning to face the happy couple, he grinned. "Good to see ya, Masaya," He called, crossing his arms. "We'll have to talk sometime, okay? Feel like I'm intruding, so I'll catch you later."
As he floated off, tugging on his t-shirt and baggy cargos the entire time, both Ichigo and Masaya couldn't help laughing a little at the sight.
"Who would have thought that Kisshu would have totally been used to life on Earth by now," Ichigo asked, falling into Masaya's arms to embrace him.
He shrugged, but smiled weakly. "I don't know, but it's agreeing with him. Now, shall we get going?"
She nodded, walking away.
And if she looked back briefly - but only briefly - she would have seen two more friends taking her and Kisshu's place, talking and catching up on old things. But when she actually did look back, no one was there.
