Cho drove past that building many times. Just another tavern along the way home.
It had been a very hard case and Boss was being tough because they were making no progress. Jane was in month three of his absence and the rest of them were floundering.
This time Cho stopped and bellied up to the bar. Three drinks gone in twenty minutes. Teetotal time was over. Lost time was made up.
Then he stared at the mirror behind the bar and rued the drinks.
I didn't know what you've become, he thought. Sobriety came with a very lonely pricetag.
