That smiling face we will never see again
The lonely strive to achieve what we seek
Shutting out even the most friendliest doors
This is something that we must do to keep moving forward.
Some say that we are delusional and that we need to give up our quest
Others say that we need to tell them so that they can help
They just don't understand
This is our burden to bear.
True knowledge is the burden we bare
For there is nothing more painful than to be so close but so far
The part of me that must keep going
Is it the part of me that must also hold back?
Small as we are there are things in this world larger than we are able
But many that we carry anyway.
That is the cost that we must pay to achieve what we seek
To carry the work of the scientist
To defy God's will
And to go against human nature
To reverse the cycle and disrupt the place from which we came.
To hold the Philosophers stone in our hands
This may all be in vain
But there are things that we must strive for that may not exist
This is the pain that we share.
The small country house that we burned down
It took all those small memories with them
And closed them off for another day
Though to keep moving forward you must lock away you're past
This one is worth dragging with us.
