AN : Sorry but I haven't watched this episode of RK in a while. …the things they say will be off.

A figure in the woods emerged as Kaoru edged in closer. The light of fireflies danced in front on her. The green speckles of light swimming in the air softly illuminated the outline of his face. It was ever so familiar.

"Kenshin!" She called. A bittersweet smile played on her lips. "Ken…shin…"

The redhead turned around ever so slowly as a response to her words. Kaoru inhaled, and summoned up the courage to look at him straight in the eye. "You're not going to Kyoto, right?"

No words came out. The expression on his face held a grave look. Kaoru shifted uncomfortably and sighed.

"I have to." He hesitated. Kaoru made no attempt to hide her feelings of worry. "If I don't I wouldn't be able to protect you." Kenshin inched in closer to her. It was inevitable. His hidden feelings for Kaoru overpowered him. "Goodbye, Kaoru." She fell into his chest and his arms embraced her. A strange tingle ran down her spine, but Kaoru did nothing. His words were a spell of paralysis. Azure pools widened in shock as tears threatened to be released.

After a brief moment, Kenshin released her. The embraced seemed an eternity, he wished so anyway. Whether he would see her face again or not was debatable, but this was for her own good. He turned around and didn't dare set his eyes upon her again. He strode away at a moderate pace and disappeared into the darkness.

Kaoru collapsed on the ground kneeling, and unable to support herself. The tears of sadness flooding her eyes accompanied her irregular breathing. The eerie silence was disturbed only by her breathing and the light tapping noises of falling tears.

'Kenshin…' The voice inside of her called for him. The only problem was that she wasn't able to speak.

AN : My first attempt at these kind of things…o.O…I'd appreciate a few comments or suggestions to improve this piece of writing. After all, I AM a beginner, lol D. Btw, thanks for reading.
