Fai stood at the room balcony, thinking, his mind filled with what that matters now. No one, except Ashura-ou, has ever seen so much of his life. All lies are unfolded and all secrets told, for once in his life he felt so exposed.

Yet he must stay with them. He must protect the princess and search for all her feathers. For the clone Syaoran, and for his left eye, no matter how cold things would be. Kuro-tan would definitely question him about the truth, until nothing were left. Not even the things that mattered.

Kurogane…

Selfish he is, but so caring. Too caring.

He looked up and gaze at the stars.

When he was still in the valley, all he wanted was to be loved, to be free, to be cared. All he wanted was a friend, to experience a speckle of humanity. Is humanity dead? He really wonders. Ashura-ou was the first to show him kindness and forgiveness, love as a father and friend. But he used him, so that he could kill him.

That's why he gave up looking for a friend.

Because the people dearest and closest to him are always the ones to hurt him most.

Fai's bed is empty, again.

His just trying to avoid, but he can't do it. Not forever.

He always thought Fai was somebody's who's trying to avoid his past and reality by smiling and fooling around. He thought he was some idiot, a coward, a weakling. But then, he grew to cherish him more and more. Because during the journey, he's forgotten that there is always a reason for every action in the world.

He stood up and touched Fai's pillow. Wet. That's what he's been doing every night in bed with his face in the pillow. And he thought he was crazy.

Fai's blaming himself for everything that has ever happened, and he doesn't realize that's what makes who he is. He's sorry, and that's what matters. And for that he is drawing himself further and further away from them, because now they know what liar he is. Kurogane refuses to deny it.

But this has to end. Fai… Yuui needs to know that they can be trusted. They care, no matter what or what an idiot he has been to him. Yuui was their friend, and he needs to let him feel the same way either.

Not to feel a hope, only to be broken and tore down again.

Not to feel lonely, alone in the dark.

He walked towards the only place he would think Yuui would be now. To tell him what he needed to know. Just as he expected, he was standing there, still and unmoving, alone, staring straight at nowhere.

He walked softly towards him, feet resting on the cold surface.

Suddenly, words appeared out of nowhere, surrounding Yuui, creating a barrier around himself.

"Yuui…"

There was no reply. Only a clenching fist.

"Yuui… we're here."

Kurogane turned around. Sakura-chan and Syaoran-kun were standing by the door with Mokone on Sakura's shoulder. The girl stepped forward. Syaoran probably told her everything after the rescue. Stopping in front of the barrier, she held up a hand.

"Yuui…"

The moment her hand touched the barrier, it shattered and flow down like multi-coloured rain of stars around him.

Sakura continued forward and stopped beside Fai. She slipped her tiny hands into the magician's slender fingers, embracing it. Mokona hopped onto Fai's shoulder and looked at him with sad eyes.

This time, Syaoran stepped forward and past Kurogane, his face solemn as he repeated what Sakura did on he other side, both staring at Fai's face. His eye was hidden in the dark, below his hair. But he dark face gave away his pain and despair.

Kurogane neared himself to Fai's back and rest his hand on Fai's free shoulder.

"You're not alone, Yuui. And you never did anything wrong that has nothing to do with you or the twin."

Everything froze for a while. Time crept unconsciously to the time the sun began to rise. All eyes were still on Fai.

Kurogane looked down. Slowly, the magician's hands squeezed at the younger companions'.

Is humanity dead? No, not yet, until the day faith dies.
