Chapter 1.

I woke up clutching my heaving chest. I felt the cold night air enter my lungs as I panted. My skin was clammy and my sheets were all tangled together. 'Another night, another nightmare'. I looked around my room. Everything was fine. It was my last night at home before starting my last year at Hogwarts. The wind was blowing, so I slowly climbed out of bed to shut the window. The floor seemed so oddly hard and cold. I stood for a moment. Looking out at the lake that was a few yards from our house. It was the lake we told each other that after the war, after Hogwarts, we would be together. And just a few days later he was gone, and I didn't know what to do.

I slid to the floor, sobbing. This was pretty much how every night had been going since Ron was killed. One thing I loved most about him was how brave he had grown over the years. And it was his foolish bravery that ended his life. He had died the night Voldemort was finally vanquished. He had helped Harry reach his goal. They gathered the Horcuxes and put an end to the terror. But one last spell, aimed at Harry, accidently hit Ron. I bit my lip trying not to think the thought that always comes to mind 'why couldn't it have hit Harry like it was supposed to'. But then I cry again, Harry is my best friend, how could I think that?

Its hard to go to sleep after a dream so I gathered my things and started to pack for my early trip in the morning. I was going back to Hogwarts to finish my education, its what Ron would have wanted me to do. One day early in the summer we talked about becoming an item, but he told me he wouldn't want to see me fail my newts over him. He said he would be there forever. He said one more year wont change the feelings we had for each other. He was a liar. And of course, this leads to more and more crying.

The sun was slowly starting to rise over the hill top and He waited at the platform for the train to start boarding. He was hours early, but he didn't really have much else to do. After the summer he was set up at the leaky cauldron to live until the new school year started. 'My last year as at Hogwarts'. He thought to himself. He dreaded going back. He was hated by just about everyone. To his old friends he was a traitor. And to everyone else he was Malfoy, the death eater who tortured them for years. The boy who killed Dumbledore. Its funny how the things you don't want anyone to know get spread around in 24 hours, but the cold hard facts that should clear your name, no one will listen to or dare repeat to a friend.

It was hard for him to agree to come back at all. If not for a letter from the late Headmaster he would not be going at all, but several days after he fled Hogwarts the year before he received an Owl from Dumbledore, asking him to attend the next year and finish his education no matter what events happened over the summer. And what a summer it was. After fleeing with Snape to the death eaters lair Dracos weakness and compassion for Dumbledore was confirmed and as punishment he was forced to murder his own parents while being possessed by Voldemort. He was then left to be killed by the other death eaters but was rescued by members of the Order and was sheltered and tucked away here and there until news that the Dark Lord was finally gone. He was then safe to live in a room at the leaky cauldron, which he didn't leave until early in this morning.

A chilly breeze blew his ever growing locks of silver hair across his face, and he waited.
