Holding my breath for a whole month;
If I held your breath, at least we could touch.
"I guess I won't be seeing you for a while then?" she assumed, leaning against the wall as he shut his suitcase. The red mop of hair shook lazily from side to side in the negative, and the owner straightened up, taking a long drag from his cigarette. A pale grey cloud of smoke wafted upwards and dispersed beneath the slowly rotating ceiling fan. The dark-haired girl couldn't help watch it with mild interest, as always—this time especially, since it was a sight she knew she wouldn't see again for a long time. The habitual impulse to touch the familiar cloud itched in her hand.
My heart's on the floor, my feet feel like lead;
I'd quit the tour, but I'm already dead.
"I still have your cell number," he told her, taking the glowing stick between his middle and index fingers, "so if I get the chance, I'll call you." She didn't miss the implication in the statement.
"I can't call you?"
He paused momentarily, his goggles giving him a glazed, empty appearance in addition to the expressionless mask his face was drawn into. Another shake of the head.
"No. Too risky. It's already going to be hard to safely make contact." Picking up his suitcase, he made his way out with noticeably more weighted-down footsteps, even opposed to his characteristic trudge. His hand ruffled her hair, and then she was alone in the room.
Our only connection is synthetically;
We show our affection electronically.
Sitting cross-legged on the bed with the windows closed to the dimming sky and the lights off, she fingered a lock of hair, wondering if she should cut it. It had to be almost two or three inches longer than it had the day she'd said goodbye to him (she couldn't quite tell in the darkness of the room). Sighing, she returned her gaze to the patch of light in her hands, tapping away at the controls of the DS. The small pixel character on the screen hopped past a few comrades with vigor, digital letters floating perpetually over her head: LuvAmongGam3rs.
As she made her way through a colorful forest and collected floating items, another pixel character hopped up to her, this one labeled "Str1p3snGoggles." A smile crept across her lips as a speech bubble popped out of the air above his head.
"Long time no c, Gam3r."
"Took u long enuff, Matt."
Oh girl it's true,
I can never be away from you;
It's like you gloss your lips with glue;
We kiss, and I am stuck to you.
Hope you liked.~
