Lily Potter was sitting in her living room with her husband James Potter and his best friend Sirius Black. They were discussing who should be their Secret Keeper, when James and Lily got into a fight. James wanted Dumbledore, but Lily wanted Sirius. Then James accused Lily of being unfaithful. Sirius butt in, asking James if Lily would ever be unfaithful. James replied, "For you, maybe." Then he left the room.
They made up, but they were still sitting in silence. This gave Lily some time to think about what had happened so many years ago.
Lily was wearing a light purple dress to the winter ball. Her boyfriend, the one and only Sirius Black, was on the other side of the room, getting drinks for the two of them. Lily looked around, getting lost in her thoughts.
"How does milady fare?" she heard coming from behind her.
"Potter! Why aren't you with one of your many toys?"
"Because there is a sprig of mistletoe hanging above your head my dear, and the thought of me not taking the chance to kiss you was horrifying."
"Yes, but I refuse. I-"
"How can you refuse? Is it because of your boyfriend?"
"It is in fact. I –"
Lily's head was spinning. James Potter was kissing her! Lily pushed him off of her and ran away. James stood there, thinking over what had just happened, when suddenly an unwanted, menacing voice came from behind him.
"Jackass! You were my best friend! How dare you kiss Lily?!?!" Sirius punched James in the nose.
"Wait! Let me explain!
"Explain what? You kissed my girlfriend! Stay away from her. And on second thought, stay away from me!"
Sirius and James weren't speaking for weeks afterward. Lily decided that to be true to her heart she had to date James, but she couldn't or wouldn't break up with Sirius. So she waited until he broke up with her. James still thought that he was second best sometimes. She did her best to reassure him, but sometimes his jealousy take over.
Wow, that was a long time ago, Lily thought, coming back to the present. She smiled and kissed her husband, which led to other things as Sirius left the house.
