They argued. She yelled some stupid things; he sent back words that cut through her like daggers. He had his way with things and the last word was to be his even if it meant being hurtful. He didn't mean it really and she knew he was only using his wits to push her from him.
She stood there before him afraid to look him in the eye. She knew too well what she wanted to do, but she couldn't. Her shoulders went limp as her thoughts backed out; she was giving up backing off as she always did. 'Happiness never was for you' she thought, her body shrinking with every second. She was letting him win this one.
He saw the life coming out from underneath her, preparing to retreat, leave this situation. Not this time. He gently placed his hand on her arm, silently telling her to stay, telling her he didn't mean it.
The warmth of his touch fought off her thoughts of running. she looked up into his eyes and felt her mind go numb under his gaze. It was like her body had a mind of its own as she stepped closer and wrapped her arms around him, her lips closing in on his.
The shy hesitant kiss quickly became great with passion, all feelings untouched, words unspoken going free at last. Their lips broke apart as the need for air could no longer be pushed away. Heads together, leaning into each other they fought to catch their breath. A small smile escaped her lips as they fell back into the kiss, the passion growing wilder with every thumping beat of their hearts. Her hands broke away as she fought off his shirt; he quickly followed her example removing hers. Slowly, with all the carefulness in the world he lifted her on the bed.
There were no worries, questions of what next or what does this all mean. It felt right and better than anything before. Maybe later as she lay with her head on his chest, his arms around her, not willing to let the feeling go, maybe then they would ponder on the meaning of life and the rest of that 'pointless chit-chat' as he so cleverly once put it. But the moment was now and there was no need to let it go.
