I wrote this last night as I was thinking of all the times people have to say goodbye in Lord of the Rings, especially Frodo. Just take a second and think. Many goodbyes, huh? Then I thought of the times I've had to say goodbye and wrote this.

If you could promise me one thing, what would it be?
Would it be gold, flowing as river into sea?
Would it be anything my heart desirers?
Would it be love that never expires?
Would it be the sun, the stars, the moon?
I wish it to be that I'll see you soon.

If it were but one last word
That you knew that I heard,
Would it be "I give you my love"?
Would it be "I'll see you above?
Would it be "Take me too?
I wish it to be I'll always be with you".

If it were but one regret you had,
Would it beI'm sorry you're sad?
Would it be a secret I didn't hear?
Would it be you couldn't calm my fear?
Would it be"I should have gone an extra mile"?
I wish it to be that I won't see you - for a while.
