Surely everyone knows the true definition and purpose of homework. Homework is the school after school. It is not as tedious as schoolwork, but it is still nerve-racking in the same sense that a modest storm after the quelling of a fierce one, though not quite as strong, is still devastating nonetheless. Homework is the merciless, preemptive attack after surrender; it is the battle after the conclusion of long seven-hour war. It is the take-home test, the consumer of time, the grim weeper bent on consuming all your free time. Homework is the darkness that clouds your sunny afternoons. It is the cramped confinement that keeps you locked up inside; it is the clipping of your wings, preventing you from soaring amongst the clouds and forcing you to stay immobilized. Homework impedes you from playing outside, all the while fanning the flame and intensifying your yearning to do so. Homework is staying up till one o'clock to finish a report due tomorrow that you have neglected to do for weeks. Homework is sitting next to your computer for hours on end typing up a report during your vacation. It is oftentimes wondering what the true meaning of homework is while you sit and watch other people go about their lives.
