Disclaimer: I do not own Detective Conan.
Charade
The Detective Boys were not dumb. They were quite the opposite. Sure the may not haven been able to solve mysteries like Conan or all agree on the same thing, but they were far from dumb. All it took were a few slip ups for the Detective Boys to catch on. They never confronted their target figuring that the person had a good reason not to tell them instead they kept up their charade. They continued to act dumb and naïve. Never seeming to catch on, forcing their suspect to explain everything just for them to be sure. They felt there charade was needed for their suspect's safety and maybe even their own.
One day they had eavesdropped on the suspect and learned everything. Now more than ever they realized there charade was needed for everyone to survive everyday life. One day they would have to say goodbye to their suspect in order to make someone else happy. They would be ready and waiting to introduce themselves to their suspect once again and maybe even tell the suspect about the charade. That is if the suspect could even figure out that it had all been a simple charade.
It was a charade that the suspect had fallen for hook, line, and sinker. For once it was the only time when it was okay for that person to miss something for it would save the lives of many. Just one little charade was all that was needed.

Authors Note: For all who didn't catch on this fic was about the Detective Boys figuring out Conan's identity.
I've always felt that with the number of times that of people CoughHattoriCough call Conan, Kudo that the detective boys would be bound to figure it out. I had just finished watching DC OVA 7 and the Detective Boys seemed a lot smarter in that one because they didn't need as much help from Conan (I could be wrong, but that's what it seemed like to me.)
