I'm writing this to try and comfort myself about Barriss being the traitor. For anyone who has read my other Star Wars stories... you can easily see I was a big fan of Barriss.

So, even though in the last episode she denies a friendship was there and that she didn't feel she could trust anyone, this is my own personal take on why Barriss might have betrayed Ahsoka on the terms they were still friends.

This is a 300 word drabble, not counting my commentary here or the title.

I Betrayed You With a Purpose

I betrayed you with a purpose.

You were my friend. You spared me so I tried to spare you. From this destruction from this decay. Don't you see how everything was falling apart? This world that we know is a lie. There is no peace there is no hope there is nothing but anger and war and hate and destruction and what are we but tools to continue this to carry this out to hurt so many?

They blamed you.

If they saw you as the so called "criminal" the so called person behind the "terrorist attack" then you would be removed from this order. You wouldn't be a part of this destruction this pain this horror this crime. Because who are we but all criminals? Trials trials trials. That's all we deserve. Conviction conviction conviction.

Death.

So I tried to get you out before it was too late. I tried to save you like you saved me twice because if you stuck around in this order then you would slowly get absorbed in everything wrong about them everything evil but you are not evil you are my friend so I tried to help you can't you see that?

I didn't destroy your world I saved it.

And now you see.

They were quick to accept you as the traitor because this is just war to them and you are nothing but a pawn a pawn used for their crimes their crimes don't you see the blood that they have all smeared upon the ground what we have smeared upon the ground? The people are right the Jedi are wrong.

We have become the enemy we thought we were fighting.

I just wanted to save you from it.

I betrayed you with a purpose.

300 words, woot.

I have no idea if this makes sense to anyone... But basically (in my wishing view), Barriss betrayed Ahsoka to spare her from becoming "evil" like Barriss believes the order has become.

The lack of punctuation is purposeful. I have a reasoning for it, feel free to decide how you feel about it.
