Time was flying fast and heart beating, I ran outside into the pouring rain. It slid down my cheeks and dripped down to my feet below. My mind was screaming at me, but I couldn't run away from it's constant tirade. I slipped several times, managing to dirty my fine dress- but I didn't care. This was my future. I couldn't possibly be late.
It felt like forever as I ran through the wet speeding bullets toward the compact car. As I slid into the car, I noticed a note on the dashboard screen. I eagerly pressed "READ", knowing I only had minutes.

Now, I had threats coming from both sides. Opening up the creaking door, I practically leaped up the steps and back inside the large oak doors. Stepping inside, I outstretched my arms and shut the entry. Breathing hard, feet moving swiftly, I crossed the large hallway and started up the stairs. The lockdown key was near my bedroom, but to reach that destination before all the chaos hit would be nothing short of a miracle.
Tears seeped out of the corner of my eyes, with full knowledge that these could be my last seconds on earth. I could imagine my family and my cousins crying. They would self-destruct mentally with me if they found out.
There, on the wall. The black button glistened in the moonlight. It's appearance created a feeling of fury, and with a burst of energy, my body slammed into the protruding shape.
My body slid to the ground, exhausted, just as a big boom shattered the surrounding silence. My eyes fluttered a few times, my focus on my ring finger- the large ring that had lately taken residence there. My future was non-existent. My body slumped on the soft carpet and fully accepting all the challenges and conditions, I reached out for the darkness that stood, arms open- waiting.
