Naminé looked around the white room of the old mansion. Alone once again. Stuck in a room. Or, well, not really stuck. But there was no reason for her to leave. Her friends were all happy now. No one needed her anymore. But she wouldn't cry. That would be selfish. She didn't want to be that witch anymore. But what good was a heart if you didn't have anyone to share it with?
After things had become peaceful again, they all had returned home. Sora, Kairi and Riku to their family on the islands. Roxas, Xion and Lea settled down in Twilight Town. Aqua, Terra and Ventus returned to what once had been known as Castle Oblivion. She didn't fit in. Four was too much. Even though she knew they all loved her, the aching loneliness inside of her simply wouldn't go away.
The crayons she always used were almost completely reduced to little nubs. Useless. Like her. She was drowning in self-loathing and didn't seem to be able to stop it. Staring down at the white paper on the table, she finally let the tears fall. Drip, drip. Water streaming down her cheeks, falling onto the paper.
The door opened. Someone held her face and wiped away her tears. "Naminé…" She opened her eyes and saw a boy looking back at her. Silver hair, eyes like gold. "Riku….?" The boy shook his head. "Not Riku. My own person."
The replica held her hands. "Don't be sad, Naminé. Please." That was easier said than done. Her rational mind knew she didn't have to be sad, yet her feelings seemed to disagree. She shook her head. "You're just saying that because you don't know any better. All those awful memories I made you believe in…" Repliku frowned. "I know. But that was long ago." He held her close and combed through her soft hair with his fingers. "I need you. Only you," he whispered.
He wasn't the fairytale prince she'd hoped for. He was no hero. There wasn't a light as bright as the sun shining in his heart.
But he was willing to save her from herself.
And maybe, that was all she needed.
