A hand gently grazes the dragon's right cheek.

It's soft where it should be hard.

Smooth, where it should be scaly.

Masamune sighs in content.

Yet another day without his eyesight. He still hasn't fully grasped the situation-that the sight in his right eye is gone.

And it would be black forever.

Sickness has claimed his poor eye.

His father was dead, and he was to take over the role of the head of the Date.

His mother wanted him dead. Poisoned him, betrayed him.

Everyone had turned their back on him.

Except his Right Eye.

"Kojuro.."

He adjusted his glasses. Himself, still getting used to the enhanced sight.

"I cannot give your perfection...it must be fate that I am like this..."

"Tch...get out of here..." Masamune snapped.

Laying on his right side was Kojuro, his gaze never leaving his lord's side.

"Surely you deserve someone with better sight. Someone to ensure your route to the sky.."

Masamune was silent. Gritting his teeth in anger at his bogus words.

It didn't matter that Kojuro was cursed with poor eyesight. For that matter, not him either.

As long as he could see the sky, it was good enough.

They lay side by side, drenched in silence, letting their fingers entwine.

He usually doesn't like the quiet, but today, it's calming.

Kojuro flips over to face his lord. Not once moving towards the left. With his lord's right eye gone, Kojuro must replace it.

"I promise. My lord. When everyone has turned their back on you, I will be there for you."

Masamune didn't reply, but the smile on his face assured Kojuro that his devotion was not in vain.
