All these characters belong to J.K Rowling. I'm simply having fun with them. This story isn't written as a sequel or attached in any way to any of my, or anyone else's, stories. Rated T. James/Lily. Enjoy! And don't forget to please comment and rate, thanks.
A hissing sound awoke him, his hazel eyes flying open and his mouth opening in an immediate yawn. As he stretched his arms as far as they could stretch he walked to the window to gaze out into the morning gloom.
He had such a strange dream. A boy that could've been his twin, but with green eyes, was fighting off a giant snake with a sword. A sword with a ruby encrusted hilt with a long blade.
A melancholy boy with a grim expression and a wicked gleam in his eyes was egging the snake on, talking to it in a snake-like language that sent shivers up his spine.
As if he expected the hissing sound he heard had come from the snake in his dream, he looked warily around and rolled his eyes. He wasn't some sort of wuss; there was no snake.
He rushed out of the dormitory without waking the other boys, assuming that it had to be two or three in the morning, to wander aimlessly about the castle. Maybe he could sneak around with his friends. Or even bother the greasy-haired boy he disdained, Severus Snape if he was lucky enough.
What he enjoyed the best, besides playing Quidditch or looking at Lily Evans, was bothering Severus. The two hated each other and whenever they saw each other, made sure to make the mutual feeling known.
Ever since the two met on the train, it was instant hatred. The greasy slimeball was always jealous. And who wouldn't be? Everyone loved and adored James Potter. He was one of the most popular boys, the Gryffindor Quidditch Seeker at that.
He had almost everything he wanted. Everything but Lily Evans. Lily. Her name was beautiful, her face was beautiful, her laugh was beautiful. But she hated James as much as James hated Severus.
And to everyone's great astonishment Lily and Severus were best friends. No one could imagine beautiful, popular Lily Evans hanging around with slimy Slytherin Severus.
Gryffindors and Slytherins just didn't mix. And James could clearly see that Severus fancied Lily. It was obvious. And it just made James jealous.
