Hang up that red dress,
Let down your hair,
Cancel those reservations
Don't need to go no where.
As good as your looking right now,
Girl bet you're thinkin' I'm crazy,
There's a side of you that I wanna see
That never ceases to amaze me.
Ted Tonks smiled at his soon-to-be wife Andromeda. Her high heels and short red dress, combined with the fancy up-do her hair was in, contradicted the woman he fell in love with completely. They were going out to eat at a high-class restaurant, but Ted couldn't have cared less. She was beautiful, but, as strange as it seemed, there was a different side of her that he loved deeper than anything else.
Gimme that girl with the hair in a mess
Sleepy little smile with her head on my chest,
That's the you that I like best,
Gimme that girl.
Gimme that girl lovin' up on me,
Old t-shirt and a pair of jeans,
That's the you I wanna see,
Gimme that girl, gimme that girl.
Later on that night, Ted and Andromeda were laying outside in the grass watching the stars. Tears almost came to her eyes as she noticed stars like Bellatrix, Regulus, and Sirius in the night sky. Her brown hair was no longer fancy. Her dress had been replaced by a baggy t-shirt and ripped jeans. Ted sighed happily to himself as he looked at himself, so amazed that he could have been rewarded with someone this amazingly perfect for him.
Gimme the girl that's beautiful,
Without a trace of makeup of on,
Barefoot in the kitchen,
Singing her favorite song.
Dancing around like a fool,
Starring in her own little show,
Gimme the girl the rest of the world,
Ain't lucky enough to know.
The next year, Ted came home happy every day. It didn't matter how bad his day at work had been. It was a good day as long as he came home to find his little tomboy in the kitchen, her face completely natural. And shoes? Who needed them? As she cooked, she sand and danced from stove to sink and back again. She laughed at herself when she tripped. Ted smiled, thinking, if only everyone else in the world knew what they were missing out on.
Gimme that girl with the hair in a mess
Sleepy little smile with her head on my chest,
That's the you that I like best,
Gimme that girl.
Gimme that girl lovin up on me,
Old t-shirt and a pair of jeans,
That's the you I wanna see,
Gimme that girl, gimme that girl.
It was every night that they went out, and the grass seemed to hold the impression of their bodies. Andromeda grinned up at her husband, her eyelids flickering sleepily. She rested her head on her chest, the tangle of her hair acting almost like an extra pillow. It had been long since she had dressed up last; their wedding. Since then, it had been nothing but jeans and t-shirts, and that was how Ted liked it.
Gimme that girl with the hair in a mess
Sleepy little smile with her head on my chest,
That's the you that I like best,
Gimme that girl.
Gimme that girl lovin up on me,
Old t-shirt and a pair of jeans,
That's the you I wanna see,
Gimme that girl, gimme that girl.
They named their daughter Nymphadora. After she was born, the grass impressions had been raised to three, but then gone back to two. Andromeda decided the stars above, stars all with names of her family, were just too much. It was, after that, Dora's tangled hair and her sleepy smile facing Ted, her head on his chest. Dora had a fetish for jeans and t-shirts, perhaps picked up from her mother's constant wearing of them. Around the time Dora was four was the time Ted decided he wanted these moments to last forever. And if only they could.
A/N: My songfic tribute to the Tonks family! Hope you liked it, R&R!
