Okay guys, please please be nice to me on this as it is my first ever drabble written for the One Ship Boot Camp Challenge using the prompt 'embrace'. It is set like three years after Diaboromon Strikes Back.

It was just another visit to America that he and Daisuke decided to take together to visit Mimi but caught in the middle of a breakup was not something either of them had expected. Now, Takeru was standing there on a grassy hill, watching Mimi throw pebbles into the lake as tears streamed down her cheeks and shifted. She was his friend, he should comfort her because Daisuke was bad with words and because he was slow at picking up cues since Mimi refused to cry in front of the two of them and ruin their vacation here.

Slowly, the blond boy, who had long forgone his bucket hat awhile ago treaded down the small steps of the stairs till he reached the brunette girl's side.

She kind of looks a little bit like Hikari-chan when she's crying Takeru thought, thinking of his ex-girlfriend and dear friend. Unsure of how to begin consoling the girl in front of him however, he was glad when Mimi broke the silence between them.

"I'm alright," The girl sniffled and Takeru raised an eyebrow.

"I'm not eight anymore, Mimi-san," Takeru said softly. He then smiled. "It's alright to be upset."

Mimi tried to wipe her eyes but the tears kept falling. "I…I don't really understand…he said I was too strong-willed…not pretty enough…too annoying, I didn't realize I was so undesirable, Takeru-kun."

Takeru reached out, pulling Mimi into an embrace, feeling a surge of anger at Michael for saying those things. Even if the other had found someone else, there was no reason to be so degrading. After all, he and Hikari had mutually ended things when they thought it was working out without disrespecting one another.

"You are pretty, Mimi-san," Takeru insisted. "You're one of the prettiest girls I know. You may be strong-willed but you're the most honest and sincere person I've met in my life. You'll never lie to someone just to please them. And annoying? I really think Michael should get an eye appointment because you're anything but. There is nothing wrong with being a little headstrong."

Mimi buried her head in Takeru's chest and Takeru blushed at how close the distance between them was. Had he said too much? He was being honest though, Mimi was beautiful and it was because she was beautiful that his facial temperature had gone up. He was sure his heart was racing loud enough right now for Mimi to hear it.

"Am I embarrassing you being this close?" Mimi mumbled playfully and Takeru, if possible turned even redder.

"N-not at all, I-I'm glad y-you're alright, Mimi-san," Takeru stammered out and Mimi managed a giggle.

"Thank you for coming after me, Takeru-kun," Mimi said softly and Takeru smiled a little bit.

"Anytime," Takeru said, realizing that holding Mimi in his arms didn't feel as awkward as he had thought it would be. In fact, it felt right. Like it was where she belonged. At least, for now he would let himself enjoy embracing her like he was.
