1. Chapter 1

3rd person POV

:"Now!"

Ant yanked the ephemychron away from the gates, and the enormous doors slowed to a halt. The centuries-old hinges squeaked. All was silent.

He swam closer to the gap. "Listen, no kraken!" he said with a sigh of relief. "No nothing! I guess it really does pay to-"

The kraken's eyelid flipped open, revealing a luminous green-yellow orb fixating its gaze on Ant. The kraken shrieked.

"KRAKEN!":

Red tentacles snaked their way out of the narrow opening in the trench wall.

"Ant, look out!" called Will. Ant pushed himself backwards, away from the looming tentacles and the ever-watching eye. Will shoved Ant further, towards the Shadow Knight which was waiting. Ant got in and descended towards the Aronnax. The kraken screeched again, and a stray tentacle bashed several large boulders from the cliff above. The rocks slowly tumbled down the side of the trench.

The Swamp Knight jetted down to the Aronnax moonpool and entered. "Have you seen Ant?" Kaiko asked over radio.

"No. I'm going back out for him now."

"Okay. The Aronnax will be ready to start as soon as you get back."
