It was time to die. Time to kick the bucket, take the long nap, leave the mortal world, shed his mortal coil. DIE. And he was sort of looking forward to it. The great Captain Jack Sparrow and Davy Jones' beastie. A battle of epic proportions. A duel to end all duels. A war to end all wars. Quite catchy most of those were...

Time to go down with the ship. Being a pirate captain and all-around sketchy character, Jack feeling the need to die heroically was very strange. This very same impulse was felt by many men, often when those men had committed so many egregious crimes they were getting very worried about the judgement of their sullied immortal souls. Jack was such a man.

Jack didn't find the need to do something heroic entirely strange because he wasn't a coward all the time the time and Elizabeth did say that he would have a chance to do something truly heroic. It figured the only real time he did something truly heroic like turning around and saving his crew's (and assorted other's) lives would mean dying at the hands, um, tentacles of the thing he'd been fleeing.

Only a true simpleton would do something so stupid. Jack sighed explosively. 'I'm a bloody simpleton.'

He wished he'd have said something a bit more lasting back there when he wasn't in danger of being eaten alive by a giant squid. Something to Will or to Gibbs that would equal a goodbye of sorts. Something like: "Bye" or "You've done your father proud", or something equally as touching. Then thing that really got him was he'd just been saying goodbye to his Pearl when Elizabeth had thrown herself on him and handcuffed him to the mast. Greatly upsetting.

Now, sitting here, thinking of all he couldn't have done (because Elizabeth- as it turned out- could be greatly persuasive when she put her mind to it), he felt a sort of sadness. But he was looking forward to his death in a way. Doing something truly heroic, and a trifle mad was how he was going to go and it suited him perfectly.

Dying on the ship he loved by something he had spent so much time and effort trying to flee seemed the perfect way to end the great adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow. Perhaps someone would bring him back, (and he'd be thankful), but nothing could compare to this moment when he knew- with utmost certainty- he was going to die.

Davy Jones didn't know what he'd gotten himself into. He'd forgotten the one thing that set him apart from all others and made him truly immune to his laws and everyone else's. He was Captain Jack Sparrow.

Thanks for reading, I keep reading fics that are Jack/Lizzie and all they talk about are Elizabeth's feelings and never really get into Jack's mind. I really like writing in Jack's POV 'cuz he's such a round character and he has a lot of facets to his personality.

Review if you liked it and feel free to look at my favorites and find some really good Jack/Lizzie stories.

JACK WILL BE BACK!
