"I did"
"You don't get it. Forever is a long time…"
"Not long enough"

"I'm sorry. What?"
"You heard what I said."
"Yes, but I don't believe it."
"Why not?"
"Because…"
James smirked.
"Not an answer, I'm afraid Lily."
"But…"
"Also, not an answer"
"You said forever"
"I did" James nodded in confirmation.
Lily just stared at him as if waiting for him to catch on. James smiled at her in silence.
"You don't get it." She sighed as she ran her fingers through her hair, proof that she spent too much time with him. "Forever is a long time…"
"Not long enough"
"But you would be stuck with me"
"I would get to spend it with you"
"But it's me"
"I love you" James shrugged before he grasped one of her hands. "So…"
"So?"
James sighed.
"As much as I am enjoying your predicament, the grass is wet, and my knee is soaked. Would you just answer the damn question?"
"Yes"
"Yes?"
"Finally!" James got up off his knee and captured Lily in his arms. He kissed her before slipping the small engagement ring on her finger. Lily smiled down at it before looking up at James in horror.
"Oh no."
"What?"
"I'm stuck with YOU forever"
