A/N: My first dramione drabble. Something along the line of 'raising the the ordinary to extraordinary'. Hope you like it. R&R... Cheers! :D
His hand felt normal. Not warm, not cold, just normal. Maybe it was due to the fact that they were both having same body temperatures, but still it was nothing extraordinary for her. But how could a hand at precisely the same temperature as hers could affect her so, was beyond her comprehension. Her hand lingered on his even after they had successfully apparated to the mansion.
Regaining her composure, Hermione smiled back politely at him. He looked back. Cold, grey eyes had never been more intense.
'We don't have to do this, you know?', he gently whispered.
'I know. And I also know that your mother has sacrificed everything for you. So if she makes one small request of you getting engaged to Viola, I think it'd be brutal of you to deny her request... And after all, we are not in love or something, right? We had been just friends with benefits for the past months and that too in secret. No wonder half the wizard community wonders if you are gay.'
Yes, it was true. Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy had been friends with benefits for the past nine months. They were friends after the war. But one fine drunken night after Hermione had broken up with Ron and Draco with Serena, they found themselves at the same pub. They got into talking and had the awesomest post breakup sex ever. In the morning, however, over mugs of coffee they confessed that an open, detached relationship was absolutely required for both of them. Where neither expected any emotional obligation from the other. It took them twenty more minutes to realize that no one was better and available for such a relationship immediately than themselves. And so it begun. It was okay for the first few weeks but both of them realized that there was much more intensity, spark, between them than required for such a relationship. And both tried to subdue their feelings by reminding themselves about the worst part of their previous emotional attachments and the pains associated with it.
It had been eight and a half months since their arrangement, when one fine morning, Narcissa Malfoy asked Draco to grant her a wish. He immediately accepted without even knowing it. Then the news crashed upon him that he was to marry Viola, one of his mother's best friend's daughter whom he used to play with in childhood. He was way too stunned to say anything and the silence was interpreted as his acceptance. Of course he couldn't reveal about Hermione as promised to her ...as she feared her job might be at stake for sleeping with her ex-enemy ,as that would bring too much media attention on her and her job as an undercover auror might be ruined. She didn't want that. He respected her wishes.
So here they were, at his manor, on the night of his engagement to someone else, as his mom had invited all his school friends and associates to the engagement party. He went to her flat to escort her personally, and also to spend as much time was left with her.
And he gave his best fake smile as he told,
'Of course we are not in love with each other.'
Post story a/n: This would probably be a two-shot. Tell me if I should continue(ya that's my way to blackmail you to review. Muahahahaha).
