'I'm not gay.' John tried to convince himself. 'I can't be. I've never been attracted to any man. Except him. Damn his shining ebony hair just longing to have my fingers wrapped around its messy locks. Damn the way his eyes twinkle like a cascade of sparkling diamonds whenever he smiles. And last of all,' John thought with a wry smile 'Damn his ability to know me better than I know myself - To be able to make me smile no matter what situation we're in.'
"What's so funny John?" Sherlock's voice called out from the kitchen and it jolted John out if his stupor.
He didn't know what to say, so John went with the truth.
"I think I'm in love with you."
For a split second the world stopped. John didn't dare to look at the expression on Sherlock's face, just as Sherlock wouldn't dare to check to see whether John was joking or not.
After the brief pause of awkwardness, Sherlock gave a reply.
"It's a good thing that the feeling is mutual then." A smile crossed John's face as he looked up and saw Sherlock lean over and press their lips together.
